Ford F250 More than a tough Truck
The humble icon that is the Ford F250 has been for years this iconic pickup found usually at the top of ones shopping list when it comes to light trucks.
However interesting to know that in Australia for many years it has been a ambulance that in itself has become a icon in society. Originally the F250 chassis is fitted with a special box designed wholly and solely for the purpose, this for many years would just be swapped from chassis to chassis as one wore out.

Military Too.!!
In the field of Military , the F250 has proved its worth see picture above 1998 F350. Even today highly sophisticated equipment is fitted to these vehicles for military purposes.
The ford pickup not just a pretty face but pretty damn versatile.

Ford F250 Winner in " Non" Depreciation in Australia
If you are a owner in Australia great news, If you are looking at buying ..well not so good.
In this day and age the humble motor car is just a money pit with natural depreciation. Its normal just like a TV or a toaster. Some depreciate quicker than others. For Example: The Australian Ford Falcon purchased 2 years ago would have on Average according to leading pricing guides depreciated 49% of that price by now.? Hard to swallow but a fact of life.
The Ford F250 however According to Glasses dealers guide boss D'Sousa shows the F250 as reversed that in fact become a appreciating asset.
Part of that article is displayed below. Well done owners but remember look after your truck it will be worth it.
"There were interesting winners in the medium-car class, where the Mercedes-Benz C-Class diesels occupied the top 10 places. Sports car winners were dominated by the Ferrari models — the best is the Scaglietti with a 101.9 per cent retention meaning it's worth more after two years than when new in 2007.
Even more bizarre is the Ford F250 and F350 range that record a retained value of between 112 per cent and 122 per cent. Mr D'Sousa says these cab-chassis and crew-cab trucks wee highly sought after by tow-truck operators and fifth-wheel buyers and, because they were now out of production, the used market has soared."

Cash For Clunkers US

Its the incentive to get those gas guzzlers off the road, and congrats to the US for doing it. Unfortunately some f250's when down for the final time.
If you are outside the US, the govt for a short period of time gave people the cash incentive to turn in their high fuel using vehicle (18MPG<)
The vehicles where fed a liquid containing sand to destroy the motor and then given to wreckers for sale as parts only.(The wreckers keep the profit)
Other than the loss of the odd F250 , what a great Idea. Some of these vehicle for safety reasons should be off the road. Well done and looking forward to its return maybe at a later date.

Ford F550 Fuel Reduction Hybrid

The Ford F550 has a Hybrid. This 2009 hybrid delivers 70% better fuel and reduced emissions. Australian buyer can get the F550 on limited private import and at a cost.
Such was the event in the USA President Obama unveiled the project. You not going to get a better government endorsement than that. The sales have skyrocketed in recent years in comparison to the Ford F250. Here is part of that press release:
"The plug-in hybrid truck is the first of five boom and bucket trucks that will be provided by Eaton, EPRI and Ford to public and private utility fleets in the United States for use and evaluation. In addition to fuel and emissions savings while the truck is on the road, additional energy savings are available by utilising the electric side of the system to power the ancillary systems and tools when the truck is stopped at a work site.
We see this as a great opportunity to bring electric power into the commercial vehicle industry and utilize it both for improving fuel economy while driving, and for meeting power demands while stationary, said Karina Morley, Ricardo global product group director for Controls & Electronics. This project exemplifies Ricardos ongoing commitment to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Ricardo has successfully completed well in excess of 100 hybrid projects that span hybrid configurations from micro hybrid to full hybrid and plug-in hybrids, in the commercial, military and automotive domains."
